We are delighted to welcome David Butt Philip to St Paul's Opera and are most grateful to him for finding time in his busy schedule to run this Masterclass.

This summer, David sang the role of Laertes in the critically acclaimed brand new production of Brett Dean's Hamlet at Glyndebourne. This autumn, he takes on the title role touring the UK with Glyndebourne Tour. He is an alumnus of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, Royal Opera House. In 2014, shortly after leaving the programme, he made a hugely acclaimed debut as Rodolfo in La Bohème. Recent role debuts, including Erik (Der Fliegende Holländer), Froh (Das Rheingold) and Grigoriy (Boris Godunov) have established him as one of the most exciting young helden tenors Britain has to offer.

Many of St Paul's Opera's talented singers are alumni of the Morley College Opera Performance Programme. Additionally, since its foundation, St Paul's Opera has committed to nuture emerging vocal talent from the major music colleges in the UK. The students' considerable talent has contributed hugely to the level of excellence, both musically and artistically, that our regular audiences have come to expect.
